Description

The project is designed for switching electrical loads sequentially based on the pre-programmed microcontroller.

The proposed system uses a microcontroller which is programmed as per the requirement. The loads are controlled by relays duly interfaced to the microcontroller of 8051 family. Here, the loads are operated in three modes such as set mode, manual mode, and auto mode. In a set mode, the loads are controlled by the timers based on input time set by the user through push button switches connected to the circuit. In the manual mode, the loads are controlled by user by pressing the respective switch. In auto mode, the loads are controlled by the predefined timings as per preprogram in the microcontroller. The load status and mode of operations is displayed on LCD display. Thus, tasks performed by costly PLCs can now be achieved using a microcontroller making the device cost effective.

The future scope of this project can be enhanced by interfacing it with the GSM modem, wherein, by sending an SMS to the control system, one can select the mode and timings remotely.
