Description
Electric power transmission lines are highly prone to faults such as line-to-ground, line-to-line, and three-phase short circuits. These faults can cause severe damage to equipment, disrupt electricity supply, and lead to significant economic losses if not detected and resolved quickly. Conventional fault detection methods often rely on manual inspection or complex protective relays, which are time-consuming, costly, and inefficient.
This project introduces a smart fault detection system that integrates IoT, GSM, and GPS technologies to overcome these limitations. IoT-based sensors continuously monitor transmission line parameters in real time, enabling immediate detection of abnormal conditions. Once a fault is identified, the GSM module sends instant alerts to the control center or maintenance team, while the GPS module provides the exact geographical location of the fault. This ensures rapid communication, accurate fault localization, and faster restoration of power supply.
The proposed system is automated, cost-effective, and scalable, offering a reliable solution for modern power networks. By combining IoT for monitoring, GSM for communication, and GPS for location tracking, the project enhances grid efficiency, minimizes downtime, and contributes to building a more resilient and intelligent power infrastructure.
