Description

Road accidents and unsafe riding conditions are major causes of injury and loss of life. This project presents the design and implementation of a Smart Helmet System using an ESP32 controller integrated with GSM and GPS modules along with UV, vibration, MQ gas, and IR sensors to enhance rider safety and provide  emergency response. The IR sensor ensures that the helmet is properly worn, while the MQ sensor detects the presence of alcohol or harmful gases near the rider. A vibration sensor is used to detect accidents or collisions. The UV sensor monitors exposure to ultraviolet radiation to warn the rider of prolonged exposure.The ESP32 microcontroller collects data from all sensors and processes it . In the event of an accident or abnormal condition, the system retrieves the rider’s location using the GPS module and automatically sends an alert message with live location coordinates to pre-registered emergency contacts through the GSM network. The system can also activate a buzzer or indicator to warn the rider of unsafe conditions.This smart helmet provides an effective, low-cost, and portable solution to improve rider safety, reduce emergency response time, and promote responsible riding. The proposed system can be further enhanced by integrating mobile applications and cloud-based monitoring for advanced analytics and real-time tracking.
